Squible Beta 1 January 22, 2006
Finally, after months of work, frustrating code conundrums and bug squishing, it is here. Squible Beta 1.
Lots have changed in this release, as you would imagine from a Beta 1 version jump, so make sure that you read the release notes before installing it, in particular the Installation section. For those wondering what’s new, here’s a brief outline:
Administration Panel - configure the theme from within the Wordpress administration!
del.icio.us Element - include your del.icio.us links on your blog!
Last.fm Element - tell your blog readers what you’re listening to.
New Nifty Box - chock full of WebFX goodness.
Print This Post - generate a printer-friendly version of the post.
..and much more. Have a browse round this site, its running on Beta 1.

I love the ability to edit colors, but would like it to go even furthur and be able to edit fonts, font colors, sizes, etc.

i change colors in css but the are always the same, as the one in the panel admin
i want to change colors for top section, lower one and stuff like that
What’s interesting about your ‘New Nifty Box’ is that wrote and implemented it on my page back in May and it’s popularity spread quickly in the past couple months. I’m not, by any means, saying anyone took my code cause I checked. Nothing like what I wrote. Mines much short, wanna see? But yours looks and works well also.
I decided to build a new theme off ‘Squible’ because of alot of interesting addition. I dig the asides, and I could never get the Ajax Comments working in mine. Besides, most of the code I write IE hates. With a couple huge modifications on my part and handful of tweaks, a different version of your theme will grace my layout.
I just want to give a shout out, and say keep up the good work.

Thats a good news. I was waiting for this for a long time. The power of Squible with easy customaziation.The new theme layout is very impressive. Keep up the good work.
There’s a bug. If you have 3 posts on the front page, and select the options tab on the first post niftybox then the middle nifty box will no longer line up. In fact, it was way to the left for me.

For the next beta, would it be possible to allow Markdown to preprocess the asides for the Asides box? Also, an option to just allow all HTML in the top post rather than listing a bunch of tags would be helpful.

I looked up the host name as community.deafnation.com so I couldnt figure what else Im trying to do it right. Im using WP 2.0 and getting ready for my blog to follow my year round RV road trip :) Hope to test this out before I begin on Feb 1st!

Count me to the people who have updated to WordPress 2.0.1! Without having a closer look at it yet I believe them saying that about 114 bugs were closed. Even including those 114 bugs WordPress 2.0 served my purposes very well.

I’ve been searching for a theme this feature rich for 6 months. Squible is truely excellent. I was thinking of items you could include (apologies if they have been said before): technorati feeds, the ability to use exerpts rather than the full post on the main page, the ability to switch on and off date info on posts. Unfortunately I am not much of a PHP developer, otherwise I would have tried myself…
…inaddition to my last comment, dare I mention the ability to add skype, links and logo upload functionality to squible. I think I need to learn php!
A lot of that kinda stuff will be much more doable in the next version, as I’m documenting the new Elements subsystem much more extensively (and cleaning it up too!)
