Commercial Bathroom Partitions Offer Public Privacy
Restrooms are everywhere, yet we hardly give them a thought when they are done right. We use them then forget them as soon as we close the door. Get it wrong, and it leaves a bad impression. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a private company, restaurant, bar or any public place, get the bathrooms wrong and you customers will know.
The first concern in public bathrooms is cleanliness. Nobody wants to use something that looks like farm animals were just in there. The secondary concern is that of privacy. The toilet is still a taboo subject in society, one of the only ones left. It isn’t something we talk about unless it’s to complain about the bathroom facilities in a given place.
A public bathroom is generally subdivided by commercial bathroom partitions. These are made of steel, wood, plastic or other materials depending on where you are. They seek to offer the privacy one would expect at home, with the durability of a high traffic area, and the practicality of being easy to clean and maintain. These commercial bathroom partitions can be floor mounted, ceiling mounted, wall mounted, or floor to ceiling. Each type and material can be designed to fit into any architectural style.
Floor mounted partitions are the most solid. They are most practical in the highest ceilinged rooms. They give the illusion of space, as they don’t take up too much room. The floor braced partitions are also the most damage resistant as they can be thicker and stronger than other types.
Ceiling mounted commercial bathroom partitions are for lower ceilinged rooms. They offer the same advantages as the floor mounted versions, except they are a little less robust. They lend themselves well to cleaning though, as mops can be used on every single part of the floor. They also offer the illusion of more privacy as there is no chance of anyone peeping over the top.
Wall mounted partitions can also be of ceramic, as the wall can be braced to take the weight. They can be the standard closet type, or simple urinal dividers. They are again easy to clean and maintain and allow free movement of a mop, and those who use them.
Floor to ceiling partitions offer the best of all possible worlds and are found in the more luxurious buildings. They provide the most privacy to the occupant, are very damage resistant and are easy to clean. Damage resistance comes from the types of material used and the thickness at which they can be applied. Cleanliness is assured as every surface can be either wiped, or hosed down.
Public bathrooms are one of those thankless tasks that simply has to be done. It’s thankless in that if you get it right, people don’t even notice. Get it wrong and it can ruin their entire visit. Using the highest quality fittings the budget allows, as well as proper planning of the room ensures it becomes forgettable for all the right reasons.
