Dell launches Smart Phone

Woahhh! Dell is going to launch a new smart phone dell mini 3i and with this, Dell, a leading laptop maker, has entered into a totally new arena. Well I would say that the first look of the phone looks juicy enough with its Android operating system. Well that was sort of expected, with Dell and Google both working on their earlier projects. Look wise, the phone is quite sleek and looks good for a smart phone. Well the touch screen interface has now become almost a common affair with smart phones but what’s catching our eyeballs is that it will have a 3.5-inch high-definition screen. Some eyecandy huh, and the ball does not stop just here. The touchscreen has a 640×360 resolution. Hmmm, I would have to say it does look promising at least on the visual part.

I expect a phone to behave like a phone first, coming to the bare features and specifications, we have a quadband GSM/EDGE phone weighing 105 grams (quite light weight, I say) well the goodies available (I was disappointed here) with the kind of smartphone on offer the camera could have been better than 3.2 megapixel. It might be wow earlier, but now its expected. Well in pure technical terms it will have auto-focus, flash, video capture, and photo-editing capabilities. Guess they make up a bit for the 3.2 megapixel camera.

Coming to the memory part, we have an extended memory slot, that will accommodate Mini USB connector and a Micro SD cards up to 32GB and the goodies does not stop. What I have heard is that the device based on Android, will have support for instant messaging, e-mail and both MMS and SMS messaging and for net on move. Bluetooth and GPS capabilities will also be included in it. With 32 GB I would say that will be quite enough for those large files and sharing.

So when is the phone coming, I checked and checked. Well what we have got is that most probably China Mobile will be launching it and may be Brazil too. Why not in U.S first? That bugs me though. Dell and China Mobile have worked together earlier in the year for integration of a 3G data card to be used for Dell’s netbook – Inspiron Mini 10 for the market of China. With a long list of more than 500 million customers, it certainly looks like Dell is looking on bigger markets with China Mobile, it being the largest mobile service provider in the world. As for the phone, the work on the phone has been going up for one year. There are also plans to launch it in Brazil too. And the Chinese version, the device will be running China Mobile’s OPhone software, a customized version of Google’s Android operating system.

Behold, an online store is also being planned for the phone, so you can download goodies like apps, games, wallpaper, and ring-tones. And with other features supported like widgets for stocks, sports, and weather, you can keep up with all the latest happenings of the world (all updates on your tab).

I would say just to sum things up, the phone looks and promises to be juicy enough.
