Anticipated Apple TV update seen as stepping stone for connected HDTV
Apple is expected to launch a new Apple TV in the coming months with limited storage, a lower price, and its own App Store, paving the way for an Internet-connected HDTV as soon as 2012. Analyst Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray on Monday issued a note to investors in which he reiterated his belief that Apple plans to launch a connected, full-fledged HDTV in the next 2 to 4 years. He acknowledged recent rumors that the existing Apple TV set top box will be renamed iTV, but said that the anticipated product update will only be a stepping stone to the eventual flat panel living room TV.

Bill Gates: Better software modeling is a key
LAKE TAHOE, Calif.–A key to many hard problems, from using nuclear power to combating diseases, is better software modeling, Bill Gates said on Friday. Microsoft reflects on Bing’s first year
SAN FRANCISCO–Microsoft Senior Vice President Satya Nadella said on Tuesday that he is pleased that Bing has gained nearly 5 percentage points of market share in its first year, but said he is not kidding himself into thinking that is a victory. “None of us are confused,” Nadella said. “We are a low-share player.” Microsoft now has double-digit market share, but barely, said Nadella, who heads up engineering efforts in the company’s Online Services Division.
